NBA 2K League Season Two Preview: Hawks Talon Gaming Club

Last Year

The NBA 2K League announce on August 15, 2018 that the Atlanta Hawks, along with three other teams, would join the original 17 teams for season two.

Hawks Talon Gaming Club held the first overall pick in the NBA 2K League Expansion Draft and selected Connor “Dat Boy Shotz” Rodrigues. Dat Boy Shotz averaged 19.2 PPG, 7.1 RPG, and 3.0 APG for Blazer5 Gaming in the inaugural season.

With the No. 8 pick in the expansion draft, Hawks Talon GC selected Devon “ARSONAL x” Peek. ARSONAL x  averages 18.9 PPG, 11.1 RPG, and 1.6 BPG for Celtics Crossover Gaming in the inaugural season.

Dat Boy Shotz and ARSONAL x will be a good duo for Hawks Talon GC to build around. Hawks Talon GC still had four selections to make in the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft.

Draft Analysis

Hawks Talon GC selected Devin “DevGoss” Gossett with the No. 13 pick in the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft. DevGoss brings a lot of experience and maturity for a rookie. He is the first ever coach-turned-player in league history. DevGoss is a good selection for Hawks Talon GC considering Dat Boy Shotz and ARSONAL x will occupy the front court positions.

With their second round pick, Hawks Talon GC selected another guard in Randolph “Rando” Moreno. Rando will see the court a lot while playing next to DevGoss.

Hawks Talon GC used their No. 47 pick and No. 64 pick to select Jonathan “Jay_a_Fool” Jefferson and Mark “XxSTL2LAxX” Hampton respectively. I really like the XxSTL2LAxX selection for Hawks Talon GC. He is a player who does not need a defined role and is grateful for the opportunity.

Season Two Prediction

Many people love the DevGoss selection for Hawks Talon GC, it does make sense. They needed a guard and he was the best available. It is also attractive that he was a coach in the league last year. The most important determining factor of how season two will look all ends up on if DevGoss can truly make an impact as the primary ball handler.

Dat Boy Shotz and ARSONAL x are going to be great front court players, the season truly hinges on how the three guards Hawks Talon GC drafted perform.

Prediction: 7-9 regular season record, 12th seed.
