NBA 2K League Season Two Preview: Warriors Gaming Squad

Last Year

In the inaugural season of the NBA 2K League, Warriors Gaming Squad finished the regular season with a record of 4-10, which was good enough for the 16th seed in the league.

Even though their record shows it was a rough year for Warriors Gaming Squad, they showed potential to be a good team throughout the year. Those glimpses of potential were especially apparent during tournament play where they upset a few different teams.

Warriors Gaming Squad retained Xavier “Type” Vescovi and Alexander “Bsmoove” Reese heading into the NBA 2K League Expansion Draft. After the expansion draft was completed, Warriors Gaming Squad also retained Vert. They were able to do so because Vert was not selected during the expansion draft.

When the trade window opened up, Warriors Gaming Squad agreed to move Vert to Lakers Gaming in exchange for the No. 10 overall pick in the upcoming NBA 2K League Draft.

Draft Analysis

Warriors Gaming Squad had arguably the most successful draft night. They entered the night with two top-10 selections and aimed to nail those picks.

With the No. 2 pick, Warriors Gaming Squad selected Samuel “Gradient” Salyers. I think Gradient was the best overall player in the draft pool, given how versatile he is. Warriors Gaming Squad knew that they could not pass up on Gradient.

After landing Gradient, Warriors Gaming Squad selected Charles “Kina” Bostwick with the No. 10 pick, a player Gradient prefers to play with.

Warriors Gaming Squad rounded out their terrific draft night with the No. 38 pick and the No. 56 pick selecting Jin “Jin” Choe and Chiquita “Chiquitae” Evans respectively. Jin definitely has talent and will be given the opportunity to prove it. Chiquitae is the league’s first female player, but most importantly is an extremely good NBA 2K player and she more than deserves this opportunity.

Season Two Prediction

Without any doubts, the inaugural season was a frustrating one for Warriors Gaming Squad. Now, they nailed their draft and have a talent squad. Hopefully the new faces and new talent can erase any sort of negativity that was surround the team.

It will be exciting to see how Gradient is utilized and what the rookies on Warriors Gaming Squad can provide. I am extremely optimistic about this team in season two.

Prediction: 10-6 regular season record, 6th seed
